Summer is reenactment season, when history buffs pick up rifles and don wool uniforms to relive the smoke and sweat—if not the blood—of the Civil War. In July, more than 10,000 weekend warriors will commemorate the 150th anniversary of war’s first major battle, First Manassas (a.k.a. First Bull Run).
